He went to a screen named "customer preference" or something like that and selected "pinion factor" The tool he was using was some kind of DCX programmer that plugged in under the left side of the steering wheel. It was not that they just told me that they could change the pinion factor, it was that I actually stood right next to him and watched while he selected the options on his screen for 33" tires and a 4:56 R&P. DC ps, if you dont believe me,go to the dealership, bet the tech 10 bucks that you can adjust the speedo, show them how, and mail me the money!!!!!Ĭlick to expand.DoctorD, this is what I was trying to describe (poorly evidently) a while back in my post about the mechanics at Camp Jeep. i was wrong about one thing (and i should have been clearer) stock size speedo ok, after 315s 20 mph slow, after "calibrating" 10 mph slow, i was wrong about trying to change to 33s, that would slow it even more, in theory anyway. sorry if im pissed, but im not a bragging type of "mechanic", i never announce how i can fix everything-blah blah blah, but when i know something-i dont like to be questioned or told "no you cant", i have to control 6 "parts hangers" an fix there f-ups all the time. btw-my 06 is a 6 speed, once again the tcm is a non issue. even the new "can bus" vehicles are done in the fcm-tipm(anyone interested in the 07s better get familiar with that piece) not the pcm or tcm.the problem is no-one at the dealer level cares. i even had to show this trick to a dcx instructor-they knew nothing about it. the tj is the only dcx vehicle that i know of that is done this way. this is done with a drb3, in the INSTRUMENT CLUSTER!!!!! not the pcm,tcm etc. cluster is properly configured with correct tire size, transfer case type, axle ratio. 167, SPEEDOMETER INACURRATE OR INOP., step #2- insure inst. This device can even easily reset the speedometer back to stock, just in case you need it! Includes a 1-Year Warranty.Ok, just to make sure i wasnt a crackhead or an idiot, i looked in the BODY diagnostics manual, under instrument cluster, pg.
